Hey there you beautiful bunch!
I thought I’d do something a little different today, something that may be particularly handy for other tired pregnant ladies like myself, new mums, or just you gals who generally like to keep your beauty routines simple and under-stated.
I’m heavily pregnant at the moment and also full time entertainer my three year old son Grayson, all whilst trying to juggle working from home (fewf!). So I guess it’s needless to say that most of the time I don’t really have the energy or time to do much in the way of beauty related stuff, it’s never really high on my list of priorities.
To be honest generally speaking I like to keep my beauty routine pretty simple anyway, so I thought I’d share with you the bits and bobs that I find most useful when it comes to low maintenance beauty. 5 products that I like to use to make myself feel good and put together- things that require absolute minimal effort, meaning I can wear less make-up, spend less time on my appearance and that I have more time for real life things like being a work-from-home-mama.
Okay my number one on the low maintenance list is the Oral-B 3D White teeth whitening collection. Using this daily whitening routine keeps my teeth looking good and is just an easy little confidence boost that slots in so easily into my daily routine anyway, and I just really notice the difference in how my teeth look. There are two steps to my little whitening routine- kind of like a skin care routine but for your teeth I guess! First of all I brush my teeth with the 3D White Luxe Perfection toothpaste (which removes all my pesky surface stains- tea I’m looking at you here!) with 3DWhite brush-head on my Genius brush. A match made in heaven- I’m tellin’ ya!
Secondly, I brush for another two minutes with the 3d Whitening Accelerator which protects your teeth from future stains and maintains the whiteness. You can also use their handy Oral-B app in, which has a special whitening mode- who doesn’t want a lovely white dazzling smile, huh? This fits in so seamlessly with something I would be doing daily anyway, and the results have been fab!
Number Two has got to be this Essie Gel nail varnish in the shade ‘Fairy Tailor’ and this is a fairly new discovery of mine. I always like to wear nail varnish because it just makes me feel a bit more human for some reason, a little bit more put together, (and the annoying fact that my nails tend to break easily if I don’t). It has a gel effect so it lasts for aaaaaages- I’m talkin’ days here- even when I’m doing daily washing up and other chores, and my sons bath. It’s just really durable meaning that you don’t have to actually do your nails very often. Perfect because I don’t know about any of you, that’s one of my least favourites things to do when I have any spare time to myself- which isn’t often anyway!
Third up is something I’ve raved about previously, in fact if you are a regular reader or viewer of mine you’re probably sick of hearing about the stuff! It’s the La Roche Posay tinted suncream. This is all I’m reaching for at the moment in terms of my base, it’s just perfect for the summer months. It’s so nice to use as a base especially when you don’t want to wear foundation but you’d still like some coverage to even out your skin tone. You can just apply it with your fingertips and it sinks seamlessly into the skin- perfect for those lazy mum days.
Next is another old favourite of mine that has made a appearance in my make-up bag of late- benefit Gimme Brow. AKA the lazy girls eyebrow fix! I love this product for when I just can’t be bothered to do my brows or when I want them to look super natural. I’m sure you’ve all heard of it by now but it’s basically like a little mascara for your brows, it volumizes and thickens them so you don’t necessarily have to go in with a pencil or anything else if you don’t want that perfect kept look. It’s kind of like ‘my brows but better’. It’s also a nifty little product to whip out as a mum because it’s so fast and fuss free.
Lastly it’s St Tropez fake tan mouse. Now this is something that may not seem ‘low maintenance’ in terms of application- but the fact that it gives you such a lovely glow for almost two weeks makes it pretty effort free in my opinion. I find it such a confidence boost to have a bit of a glow to my skin, and it’s another product that means wearing less make up too.
I first discovered it about 8 years ago and I’ve always dabbled in and out of using it over the years.
recently began to to use it against the days have been getting warmer- I’m a factor 50 kinda girl- especially since being pregnant and having a three year old to protect from the sun too.
So there you have it- those are my top 5 low maintenance beauty basics, I hope you found this useful and let me know if you try any of these bits or if you already love them- OR if there’s anything you use that’s low maintenance that you think I would like!
tons of love,
